Lucía Dammert is a sociologist and holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Leiden (Holland). She has worked extensively in academic institutions in the United States, Argentina, and Chile. Between 2005 and 2010 she served as the Director of the Citizen Security Program of FLACSO Chile.
She is currently Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Santiago de Chile.
She has published articles and books on community participation, citizen security, social conflict and urban issues in national and international journals. In terms of public administration, she has participated in citizen security programs in various countries of the Region, working as head of the Research Division of the Ministry of the Interior of Chile and Head of Advisors to the Undersecretary of the Interior and Public Security of Chile.
She has also worked as a consultant and adviser to different multilateral organizations.
