Bruno Rotta Almeida holds a PhD and Master of Criminal Sciences at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). He has a degree in Law from the Catholic University of Pelotas (UCPel).

Dr. Rotta is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), where he teaches the disciplines of Criminology, Criminal Procedural Law and Law of Criminal Enforcement. In addition, he is a professor of the Postgraduate Program in Law of the UFPel.

Dr. Rotta is a member of the Southern Cone Research Network on Prison Matters (RCSICP), of the Criminal System and Social Change Working Group of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO). He also coordinates the LIBERTAS – Vulnerability Facing Program in Prison Environments, and co-coordinates and is a lawyer for the DEFENSA – Popular Criminal Counseling Program, both initiatives linked to the UFPel Law School.
