Ryan C. Edwards is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Liberal Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), and is a Visiting Associate Research Scholar in the Program of Latin American Studies at Princeton University. His research explores the relationship between incarceration, labor, and ecology in Latin America. In addition to studying prisons, Edwards has worked with incarcerated students and organizations centered on higher education in prisons, including teaching at Cayuga Correctional Facility, presenting for the Alliance for Higher Education in Prison, and writing on Latin America for the Global Carceral Archipelago group.
